One of the island’s classic hikes — a climb over Morro da Coroa down to the near-untouched Lagoinha do Leste beach. Guided option departs from Pântano do Sul. Winter is cool and clear, excellent hiking weather.
Scenic lakeside trail to the Costa da Lagoa fishing village with a waterfall along the way — hike one way, boat back across Lagoa da Conceição. Family-friendly on the easier stretch.
The largest gastronomy festival in southern Brazil — special menus and tasting events across the city’s top restaurants for the entire month of August. Scot’s highlight of the season. Largest drumline gathering in the Americas — hundreds of percussionists performing at Largo da Catedral Metropolitana. Free, outdoor, and genuinely impressive. Same weekend as Corrida Brisas; a good family outing for those not racing.

Nothing fresh on Under Floripa for the coming week — worth a manual check closer to the weekend. Festival Bom Gourmet (Aug 8–31) and Orquestra de Baterias (Aug 16) are the season’s bigger draws below.
Hundreds of percussionists at Largo da Catedral Metropolitana — free, outdoor, genuinely epic. Also on Aug 16: Corrida Brisas in Balneário Camboriú for Ana. Good excuse for a full-day Balneário trip.
Two classic island hikes — Lagoinha do Leste (beach + climb) and Costa da Lagoa (waterfall + boat back). Both in the Floripa section with links. Winter weather is ideal right now.
Multi-day race event at Beto Carrero World in Penha — 5K, 10K, and 21K distances over the weekend of Jul 31–Aug 2. Penha is about 1.5 hours north. Register via correbrasil.com.br. A good end-of-July race goal.
Race in Balneário Camboriú — about an hour north of Floripa. Same weekend as the Orquestra de Baterias in Centro: could make a full family day trip (race in BC, evening drumline in Floripa).
